Next Generation Hair Academy is dedicated to revolutionizing the cosmetology industry by addressing the critical shortage of competent stylists specializing in textured hair care. As a nonprofit training center founded by Master Braider Dawniella Moore, our mission is to provide specialized knowledge, extended learning, and essential skills for cosmetologists, ensuring they can proficiently care for, style, and protect Afro-textured hair.

Our Goals:

1. Bridge Educational Gaps: Tackle the deficiency in training for cosmetologists by offering comprehensive programs that cover the unique needs of textured hair care.

2. Empower Cosmetologists: Provide tools, resources, and hands-on experience to empower cosmetologists, enabling them to meet the growing demand for popular styles like twists, locs, and box braids.

3. Disrupt Systemic Inequity: Challenge and transform industry norms by addressing the inequalities that disproportionately affect African American individuals and clients with textured hair.

Issues to be Addressed:

1. Lack of Training Nationwide: Address the nationwide issue where beauty schools provide inadequate training for cosmetologists to care for, style, and protect Afro-textured hair.

2. Limited Hair Type Specialization: Advocate for change in the licensing process, ensuring cosmetologists graduate with the knowledge and competency to handle various hair types, especially textured hair.

3. Industry Inequalities: Challenge and rectify systemic inequities within the beauty industry that harm Black customers and others with textured hair, who are often underserved by licensed cosmetologists.

Dawniella Moore's Expertise:

Founder Dawniella Moore, a Master Braider, Twist Stylist, and Master Loctician, brings over 15 years of experience and more than 80,000 hours in braiding, twist styling, and dreadlocking clients’ hair. Her commitment to launching Next Generation Hair Academy stems from a passion to share this expertise, filling the educational gaps unmet by traditional beauty schools.
